The island of Flores,where Labuan Bajo is located, is a lush volcanic mountain island 600 km east of Bali. The port town of Labuanbajo is the western gateway to Flores. Labuanbajo has an airport and a ferry port and is the transport hub for Komodo NP. In recent years the town has been catering to an increasing amount of tourist going to and from Komodo. There is the option of reaching Labuan Bajo by sea. Small backpacker orientated vessels leave from Lombok and takes 3 days 2 nights. The more original option is taking the local Pelniship from Bali, which runs twice a month.
